Microsoft Defender, set up and kept on

Every Windows computer already has Microsoft Defender. Most run it on default settings, and it can get switched off without anyone noticing. We configure it properly and use our support tool to make sure it stays on, at no extra licence cost.

Included in Protect plans

  • Stronger settings switched on, including ransomware folder protection
  • Tamper protection, so it can't be quietly switched off
  • Regular checks that Defender and its protections are still switched on
  • Switched back on remotely if it's been turned off
  • Upgrade to Defender for Business if you need deeper protection

Backup & ransomware recovery

Protection lowers the risk. A backup is what gets you running again if ransomware or a broken laptop does strike. Add it to any computer you choose.

  • An offsite copy that ransomware can't delete

Common questions

Do you need to come to our office?

Usually not. Setup and most support happen remotely. We visit when something physical needs doing, like a network or printer install.

Is free Microsoft Defender really enough?

For most small businesses, properly configured Defender, kept switched on and up to date, is solid protection against everyday threats. It isn't a guarantee against a determined attacker, which is why we recommend backup alongside it, and offer Defender for Business for clients who handle sensitive data.

Can we choose which computers get backup?

Yes. Backup is added per computer, so you can cover the machines that hold important files and skip the rest.

Is our data handled in line with POPIA?

Yes. How we handle and store your data, including backups, is set out in your service agreement.

Are we locked into a long contract?

Monthly services run month to month unless we agree a fixed term. Domains renew yearly.
